Bodega Martinez Lacuesta

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Bodega Martínez Lacuesta was founded in 1895 in Haro by Félix Martínez Lacuesta – Winemaker, Politician, and Promoter. He was the first president of the National Society of Wine Growers and Wine Producers, and president of the Rioja Wine Union. Also, he represented bodega owners in the establishment of the Rioja D.O. appellation. Along with his brothers Alfonso, Julio, José María, José Crescencio ,and Emiliano they formed the beginnings the modern Bodegas Martínez Lacuesta. Today, the bodega remains a family business. It is one of the Hundred-Year Old Rioja Bodegas.

VINIFICATION

Traditional vinification with aging in oak barrels and extended bottle aging.

TASTING NOTES

Elegant ripe fruit, spice, and cedar. Medium to full-bodied with refined tannins and a harmonious, lingering finish.

Martinez Lacuesta Rioja Gran Reserva
TERROIR & VINEYARD

Clay-limestone soils at 450-600m. Vineyards within 20km of Haro on the right bank of the Ebro.

VINIFICATION

Traditional vinification. Extended aging in American oak with manual racking. Min. 24 months barrel + 36 months bottle.

TASTING NOTES

Complex mature red fruit, leather, tobacco, and vanilla. Elegant and silky with well-integrated tannins and a long, spicy finish.

VINIFICATION

Short maceration. Temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel.

TASTING NOTES

Fresh and fruity with strawberry and raspberry. Lively acidity and a clean, refreshing finish.

Clay-limestone soils at 450-600m. Average vine age 25 years. Right bank of the Ebro.

VINIFICATION

Traditional vinification. 12 months aging in American oak. Manual racking.

TASTING NOTES

Purplish cherry red. Aromas of red fruit with subtle spice and vanilla. Medium-bodied, fresh, and finely textured.

VINIFICATION

Temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel.

TASTING NOTES

Aromatic white flowers, citrus, and green apple. Fresh and lively with good acidity and a mineral finish.
