Domaine J.Laurens was founded in Limoux in the 1980s by Michel Dervin, an expert from the Champagne region. Jacques Calvel purchased the Domaine in 2002 and completely restructured and modernized the domaine, its vineyards, and its equipement, from top to bottom, in order to guarantee high quality every year. The Domaine is located close to Carcassonne, near the small village of La Digne d’Aval, and is comprised of 30 hectares of vines in the Limoux AOP. It was here in Limoux, in 1531, that the first sparkling wine in the world was invented by a monk in the cellars of the Benedictine Saint Hilaire Abbey.
