ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Domaine Amélie & Charles Sparr is a forward-thinking estate in Wettolsheim that bridges centuries of Alsatian history with modern, low-intervention viticulture. Founded in 2017 by Amélie (of the respected Barmès-Buecher clan) and Charles (a 12th-generation winemaker whose family roots in the region date back to 1634), the domaine was born from a desire to reclaim a personal winemaking legacy after the original family brand was sold. Managing roughly 20 hectares across seven villages—including plots in prestigious Grand Crus like Brand, Mambourg, and Schoenenbourg—the couple is committed to 100% biodynamic farming, holding both Ecocert and Demeter certifications. Their winemaking philosophy emphasizes purity and “terroir-true” expressions, utilizing whole-cluster pressing, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, and minimal sulfur to produce wines that are characteristically bone-dry, vibrant, and structured.
