ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Scarzello (Azienda Agricola Scarzello) is a respected, small family-run wine producer in the heart of Barolo, Piedmont, established after World War II. Led by Federico Scarzello, the winery produces highly traditional, high-quality Barolo and Barbera from 5 hectares of vineyards, including the prestigious Sarmassa and Terlo crus. Third-generation winemaker Federico Scarzello took over in 2001 after training at the Alba School of Enology. He continues the legacy of producing elegant, terroir-driven, and long-lived wines, often released only when ready, which is later than many of their peers. Scarzello is recognized as a rising star of the traditional Barolo movement.

VINIFICATION

Extended maceration (30-40 days) in temperature-controlled steel. Aged in large Slavonian oak (25hl). Traditional style.

TASTING NOTES

Vibrant dark cherry, plum, and spice. Full-bodied with crisp acidity and a warm, generous finish.

Classic Barolo: rose, tar, cherry, and spice. Full-bodied with firm, elegant tannins. Built for aging.

Extended maceration 30-40 days. Aged 30 months in Slavonian oak (25hl) + 24 months in bottle.

TASTING NOTES

Wild rose, maraschino cherry, plum, candied orange zest, cinnamon, truffle, chocolate. Majestic tannins. Destined for long aging.
